What's New in Quality Management Software
Advances in quality software, noncontact probing, open architectures, and continued cost/performance improvements are spurring technical innovation in this field. With increasing demands for greater tolerances and higher quality, manufacturers are turning to in-process gaging, engineered solutions, and much more accurate measurement equipment in order to meet customers' needs. On-machine probing, or inprocess gaging, means that the machine which is creating the parts is measured and monitored, instead of sending the finished parts to a CMM (co-ordinate measuring machine). It's called "buying parts off the machine". This approach can mean huge quality control cost savings for manufacturers.
